We’re not sure if this is a first or not, but Dennis Hof, who passed away on October 16th, was still on the ticket as the Republican candidate for Nevada Assembly Seat 36 and pulled out the win over Democrat Ledia Romanov. Dennis Hof was a brothel owner and businessman in Nevada and was making his second run at Nevada Assembly 36. His first was in 2016 when he ran against incumbent James Oscarson in the final election. This year Hof ran as a Republican, calling himself “The Trump of Pahrump”, and defeated Oscarson in the Republican primary.
Will his Republican primary opponent James Oscarson be put in the spot? We’ll soon find out. His seat will be filled by another Republican (they have to choose the same party) chosen by the County Commissioners from 3 Counties- Nye, Lincoln, and Clark. Ironically, some think Dennis passing away helped him win since he’s in a Red district and anyone who questioned his business activities no longer had to wrestle with their own morality.
The vote tally was:
Ledia Romanov had 10,007
Dennis Hof had 17,124 votes
We’ll find out soon, but we know Mr. Hof would have been happy about the “No” vote turnout for Lyon County Question #1.
